Our Programs

"All social problems have historical and psychological causes and therefore require institutional solutions."
—Rev. James Bevel

SEED programs offer institutional solutions for some of the most pressing issues of our time. Our initiatives, while addressing the distress in Tuskegee, also serve as a blueprint of what other cities can do to confront the devastation in their own communities.

FOOD SECURITY

Our Farm School program was developed to give children and young adults an alternative to selling drugs and the violence that accompanies that life. Open to all, we target low-income, high-risk, and special needs children and teach them to research, develop, produce, and market, agriculture products.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Our Farm School program was developed to give children and young adults an alternative to selling drugs and the violence that accompanies that life. Open to all, we target low-income, high-risk, and special needs children and teach them to research, develop, produce, and market, agriculture products.

HEALTH NAVIGATORS

Health Navigators are paramedical peer educators who use their influence as recognized members of the community to address critical community health care needs and foster the application of knowledge at the community level. The Health Navigators program utilizes a culturally relevant strategy to mitigate massive ignorance about the coronavirus pandemic specifically and basic health practices in general to break the cycle of premature death.

GOLD STAR FAMILIES

SEED has been identifying the families of every murder victim killed in our city since 2000. SEED has gathered a group of facilitators to assist in the healing process by providing a safe space for families to share, reflect, process and audit their grief. The healing of these families not only benefits the families themselves but the community at large. SEED Inc also provides individual grief counseling with Gold Seal Auditors for each family member that is seeking relief from the burden of grief.

SEED DOCUMENTARY

A production in collaboration with FirstWork Media, this project documents the journey in the WOMB of visual artists, writers, spoken word artists, poets, singers, scholars, the families of murder victims and the SEED staff as they wage War On Murder. We will be filming live at the Grand Unveiling.

JUBILEE FILM FESTIVAL

SEED Inc produces the official film festival for the Annual Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee. The Festival also houses a traveling component called Jubilee Encores. We exhibit films that tackle intense social issues and host forums for community engagement and deliberative dialogue with filmmakers, producers, actors, actresses and activists.
